Who is he? You should care about him. And if you don't then I don't care because I care. But you should care to make me feel better.

Why should I heckin' care?
Because I flip floppin' said so.
Seriously, why should I care?
Because I believe that Tom Hiddleston is a fantastic actor who brings so much depth to this character.
But isn't he a bad guy?
Well yeah sort of. Many consider him to be an anti-hero now.
What's an anti-hero? Wouldn't that just be a villian?
An anti-hero is a protagonist who lacks conventional hero qualities. They may perform acts that are morally good but it's not always for the right reasons.
I still don't like him, he just seems like a bad guy
I believe he is just misunderstood. You have to understand, he was taken from his real family and was always living in his brother's shadow.
That doesn't mean he's justified in doing all those bad thing.
While I don't condone any of the bad things that he did, he did it as part of a plan to gain the love and approval from his father. And he has shown that he is willing to sacrifice himself for his brother, even if the sacrifice is real or not.
But didn't his mom love him?
Yes, of course. He and Frigga had an incredibly close relationship and he felt a tremendous amount of loss when she was killed. He just wanted that kind of relationship with his father also.
