Website Reviews

Amazon's website is something I've been visiting for years now. Amazon carries a huge variety of products, ranging from electronics to home & kitchen to even food/groceries. The side bar opens up a list where you can shop by category or you can use the search bar to look up exactly the product you need. The top right of the website is where you can find specifics relating to your accounts, whether its your recent orders, account settings and payment information. All of these settings are easily accessible. Amazon's website has a very clean & easy to navigate interface that I hope doesn't change.

Youtube is widely regarded as the most popular video watching platform online. It's website has been updated a lot throughout the years but still retains its simple user interface. Like amazon's site, there is a bar on the side with various links to different features on YouTube. The search bar in the middle of the page makes it very easy to navigate and look for videos. This website also uses video watch history to recommend videos that you may want to watch for future entertainment purposes.

Reddit is a user based discussion website where people all over the world can post about any topic they desire. Their new website is something I am not fond of. Instead of having compact text links with small images they have all the images blown up to full size which makes it less space efficient. However, it does feature auto scroll, where it continues the web page the closer you scroll to the bottom. The old website which i am currently using has thumbnails next to the title of the posts which makes it much more compact and space efficient. Many people I know still use the old website due to the inefficiency and general unusability of

Newegg is an online shopping website primarily for electronics. The first thing the user sees when opening this website are the ads that rotate through several different items or whichever is featured during that week or month. The left side has categories that the user can sift through to find exactly what they're looking for. Search bar is directly in the middle of the page above the ads, below the logo and drop down menus. Many of these shopping websites have categories on the left side of the page and the search bar in the same exact place as each other. The product details page shows a picture of the product, product name in big letters above it, average user reviews, important specifications and price on the initial web page. More information can be seen when scrolling down.

Steam is an online gaming platform that is widely used throughout the world. It is used as a host software for consumers to buy and launch games from. Yet again, it has an interface with categories on the left hand side of the web page making navigation very simple. There are also links on the top of the page & drop down menus for games, software and hardware. The featured and recommended section centered in the middle switches between featured games depending on the user's play style. The color palette is a blue gradient background, with various hues of light blue as text with a black header & footer. The search bar is also interactive & the user sees suggestions as soon as they type anything into it. This is an app that I use on a daily basis and enjoy using to it's fullest extent.
