Andy Grammer is my favorite musicain! His real name is Andrew Charles Grammer. He was born in Los Angeles, California on December 3rd, 1983. He is a self made artisit that worked hard to create a name for himself.

Andy Grammer was born in Los Angeles but raised in Chester New York. His father, Robert Crane "Red" Grammer, was a Grammy nominated recording artist for children’s songs. Andy's mother, Kathryn Willoughby Grammer, was a women's rights activist. In the fourth grade Andy learned to play the trumpet. He later learned guitar and piano. He started writing his own songs in 9th grade at age 15. He graduated from Monroe-Woodbury High School and then attended Binghamton University. He left Binghamton after not getting into the Crosby a cappella group. He moved to California and finished college at California State University at Northridge. He graduated in 2007, with a degree in Music Industry Studies. In 2012 Andy Grammer got married to the singer-songwriter Aijia Guttman. They currently have one very adorable little girl!
Although he had a bit of a rough start Andy put in the time and pursued his dream of becoming a musician. He started working at the Viper Room as a booker. He occasionally preformed there as well. He kept writing songs during his free time and eventually decided to perform his work on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. He took to street performing because he wanted to be heard and as he said “I didn’t know what else to do. So, I just went out there and started playing.” In 2007, he released his first short EP The World Is Yours. Then he released another short EP Soft Lights on Bright Colors in 2009. Then he self-produced a CD, which he sold on the street between his performances. He sold 7-8 thousand CD’s just on the street. His first big success was when he opened for Tyrone Wells and Emerson Drive in 2007. Andy Grammer’s manager first heard him playing on the streets of LA in 2009. Andy released his first music video he created with Rainn Wilson in 2010, to the song Keep Your Head Up. Andy eventually signed with S-Curve records later in 2010. He officially released the song as a single in 2011 and then released his first official album later that year, named after himself. Andy was the first male single in 10 years to get on the Top 10 on Adult Pop Radio, before him was John Mayer. That year he accompanied a few artists on tours. First, he opened for the Plain White T’s, then participates in Natasha Bedingfield’s tour. He participated in Colbie Caillat’s US and Canada Tour, and lastly, he was a guest in Nashville on Taylor Swifts Tour. The two of them performed a duet version of his hit song Keep Your Head Up. He released his third EP titled ‘Live from LA’ in 2012, which were live versions of his top hit songs. He released another EP in 2013 titled ‘Crazy Beautiful’ featuring his newly released song Crazy Beautiful, amongst others. In August 2014 his second studio album was released! It was called ‘Magazines or Novels’. This album featured two top hit singles Back Home and Honey, I’m Good. Honey I’m Good got number nine of the Billboard charts!
Andy Grammer explains how he came up with some of hit hit songs!
He came up with his first hit song after a long day; he explains “I had been out on the streets trying to sell my album, and this particular day I didn't really sell any. So, I came home and wrote myself a little pick me up, which turned out to be 'Keep Your Head Up.'"
He explains the meaning behind ‘Fresh Eyes’; “Fresh Eyes was my own little discovery of having been in a relationship for a while and realizing that my favorite part of it is being surprised. Me and my wife have been together for over four years now, and anytime she does something that throws me off, that’s kind of fun. Like, "I didn’t know you knew those rap lyrics!" or "I didn’t know that you danced like that!"I was sitting at a dinner with my wife and two friends that had never met her before and you could see that they were understanding throughout this dinner how awesome she was because they had never met her. And then, kind of through their eyes, I’m like, “Oh yeah she is awesome.” I spent the whole dinner loving her deeper than I had been in the last week [Laughs] – not that I didn’t love her but it was kind of an extra fresh take.”
When first listening to ‘Honey I’m Good’ many people may think it’s going to be the same old tune about how it’s difficult to not give into temptations, but as the song progresses you realize that’s not the case. Andy Grammer describes, “Well, you know I’m married now, so when I go out on tour, well, there are always hot girls around. The song’s about staying honest and being like, ‘Yes, you are smoking hot, but I’m good. I got a lady at home who is incredible. It’s worth staying truthful.’”
'Good To Be Alive' is a song about what a blessing it is to be alive and present. Andy Grammer said, "Life has so many ups and downs and this is about that pure bliss you feel when things are finally going your way... The lyrics 'good to be alive right about now' convey something that I think anyone who's felt like they had a breakthrough can relate to."
